Sam Caruana warming up at the Malta Band Club

You will easily recognize Sammy,  after all he's been a member of the Malta Band Club since its inception in 1975 and as far as his attendance is concerned he doesn't miss a beat.  You will see him at the club religiously every Monday evening to give lessons or on Friday's  for rehearsals at the club.  Sam or "Sammy" as most call him, is a true artist dedicated to his profession.  When not at the Malta Band Club you will find Sam at any number of other venues either playing or teaching his love for band music.  At age 88, Sam shows no sign of slowing down just yet.

Sam Caruana was born in Hamrun, Malta on June 25th 1924 to his parents Hector and Josephine Caruana.  Hector, Sam's father was a pianist in the Klondike in Floriana and Sam took after his father's love for music that has lasted all these years.

In 1942 Sam was conscripted into the army at age 18 and served in the Kings Own Regiment until he was discharged in 1946.  After learning the French Horn and the Euphonium, the KOR bought Sam his first trombone to play in their band.  Soon after his discharge

Sam was off to London England to embark on a new and exciting life.
